The year 2016 will mark the 125th anniversary of the founding of the City of Hapeville!
In honor of this anniversary, the City of Hapeville has created the “Sharing Our Stories” project, a combination oral history and public art project.
“Sharing Our Stories” will begin with a community-wide effort to gather the oral histories of current and former residents of Hapeville.
These “stories” of the community will then be compiled and shared during a nationwide call for artists. Artists will be asked to create works of art that represent one or more of these oral histories in creative and unexpected ways.
From these entries, a jury will select three to seven public art projects to be installed on public property in Hapeville’s downtown arts district.
Each public art installation will have a label with a QR code which will provide a link to an audio file of the artist explaining his work and also to an audio file of the oral history that inspired it.
